D.B. Cooper Culture and Bars are inspired by an unidentified man who infamously hijacked a commercial plane in the 1970s.

The first question why is a plane hijacker celebrated and remembered by naming beers and bars long after? As confusing as it might sound, in 1971, a man flying under an alias name D.B Cooper hijacked a commercial airplane for ransom. The D.B.Cooper case is the only unsolved plane hijacking case in the history of commercial aviation. Yet it does not explain why D.B. Cooper, the hijacker inspired a range of beers, cocktails, and bar themes.

On November 24, 1971, D.B Cooper-Thanksgiving Eve- boarded a North West Orient flight from Portland to Seattle. Once airborne, Cooper made ransom demands and threatened to detonate a bomb. A ransom amount of $200,000 was delivered to Cooper, after which he released all passengers and ordered the crew to fly to Mexico. Somewhere en route and over Seattle, he parachuted into the dark stormy night. After Fifty Years, his fate is unknown, and the case remains unsolved. His bold and unusual crime and the fact that no one was hurt inspired a cult-like following. Cooper-themed restaurants, bars, and bowling alleys are popular in the Pacific Northwest. Some even go as far as to celebrate the D.B. Cooper Day completed with theme parties, drinks, souvenirs, and t-shirts.
